**Program set to run weeks 1-7, Trimester 1, 2014**
Is the prospect of starting university a little bit daunting? Would you like the support of an experienced second, third or fourth year student to help you through your introduction to university life?
The peer mentoring program is offered to students enrolled in courses in the Faculty of Arts and Education at the Waurn Ponds Campus.
This program aims to provide support for international and domestic students in their transition into university life.
Each peer mentor group comprises: two peer mentors (second or third year students typically) and up to eight mentees (usually first year students).
Being part of the peer mentor program will help you to:
Throughout the six week program you will be invited to attend social events where you will again have the opportunity to meet other students within your faculty and your course. Your peer mentor will also attend these events.
Your allocated mentors will meet with you once a week for the first six weeks of trimester at a time mutually agreed to. Generally contact is made via Deakin email or text messages as well as in person. It will be important for you to keep in contact with your peer mentor and respond to email or text messages during the program. Your first meeting with your peer mentor will take place during week one of the Trimester.
