Vice-Chancellor's Medal for Outstanding Contribution to University Life
The Vice-Chancellor's Medal for Outstanding Contribution to University Life is awarded to students who, during their time at Deakin University, have made an outstanding contribution to the life and work of Deakin University. This may include membership of Council, work within organisations such as the Deakin University Student Association or other clubs and societies, leadership roles in elected positions within the University, fostering a sense of community within Faculties or Schools, or contributing in other ways to the goals and vision of the University's Strategic Plan LIVE the future: Agenda 2020.
Up to four medals are conferred each year, one from each Faculty. These prestigious prizes consist of $1000 and a framed medallion to be presented at one of the annual graduation ceremonies. An appropriate endorsement is also made on each student's academic record.
Vice-Chancellor's Prize
The Vice-Chancellor's Prize is awarded to the student submitting the top honours thesis in each Faculty, including a creative production and exegesis honours work. The work may be submitted as part of any assessment for a program of study, or may be prepared specifically for the prize.
Each prize consists of $1,000 and a commemorative plaque. This is presented at one of the annual graduation ceremonies and an appropriate endorsement is made on the successful student's academic record.
The Austin and Valerie Asche Essay Prize in Contemporary Australian Society and Culture
The Austin and Valerie Asche Essay Prize in Contemporary Australian Society and Culture is awarded to the student who has submitted the best 3000 to 5000 word essay on an issue or issues in contemporary Australian society and culture from the perspective of any discipline, written while an undergraduate student (including honours).
A prize of $1000 is awarded. The prize is presented at one of the annual graduation ceremonies and an appropriate endorsement made on the successful student's academic record.

The Isi Leibler Prize
The Isi Leibler Prize is awarded to the student who has submitted a masters or PhD thesis approved over the previous year, in any Faculty of Deakin University, which best contributes to advancing knowledge of racial, religious or ethnic prejudice in any time or place, or to advancing knowledge of multiculturalism and community relations in Australia.
A prize of $1000 is awarded. The prize is presented at one of the annual graduation ceremonies and an appropriate endorsement made on the successful student's academic record.
