The Deakin Master of Education in the Middle East
On 15 April 2008, 17 graduands were presented with a Deakin Master of Education award by Associate Professor Ian Robottom, Associate Dean (International), Faculty of Arts and Education.
The inaugural presentation ceremony, attended by over 120 guests including the Australian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Mr Jeremy Bruer, was held in the Auditorium at the Abu Dhabi Women's College.
Associate Professor Ian Robottom commended the graduands and especially the Emirati national female students, on their capacity to balance family, work and study commitments while achieving such outstanding results.
In her address, Associate Professor Hilde Lovegrove, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Health, Medicine, Nursing and Behavioural Sciences, confirmed Deakin's commitment to the region and in particular to Deakin's Master of Education course.
Launched in Abu Dhabi in 2005, the Deakin Master of Education is offered in collaboration with the Higher Colleges of Technology and aims to meet the needs of a new generation of qualified and aspirational Emiratis, as well as expatriate teachers in the United Arab Emirates. Currently there are 45 students enrolled in the program.
