Welcome to the Aceh delegation from RECSAM, studying Deakin's "Master of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages" course.
The School of Education within the Faculty of Arts and Education has been actively linked with the Regional Centre for Education in Science and Mathematics (RECSAM) in Penang, Malaysia for close to 20 years.
The Director of RECSAM, Dr Azian Abdullah, and Deakin’s Dr Ian Robottom have set up a program for a group of ten young graduates from Aceh Province in Indonesia to come to Deakin to complete a Master of TESOL. These students, who are funded by the Aceh Provincial Government, all possess an approved four-year University qualification and are seeking further academic qualifications in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.
The Aceh graduates have come from RECSAM to Deakin for Trimester 2 and Trimester 3 to study their TESOL course full-time on-campus under the leadership of Associate Professor Alex Kostogriz. It is expected that the program would be repeated with Aceh government support for the next four years.
