Installing the QuickTime® plugin
The QuickTime® software is a set of system components which lets your computer access a wide range of multimedia files, including audio, graphic and video files.
If this computer does not have the QuickTime® software then please access your DLT CD-ROM (Deakin Learning Toolkit) as provided by the University to all students or download it directly from Apple: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
QuickTime and the QuickTime logo are trademarks used under license. The QuickTime logo is registered in the U.S. and other countries.
Using the QuickTime controller

The QuickTime Player has onscreen controls similar to those found on CD players and DVD players. Use the controls to play, pause, and adjust the volume of a QuickTime movie, to move forward or backward, to select a chapter, and to jump to the beginning or end of a movie.
Installing Adobe® Reader®
Adobe Reader enables you to open, view and print Portable Document Format (PDF) files. The individual documents contained on this CD-ROM are available in this format.
Download the Acrobat Reader software via the Adobe website or via Deakin University's Software Library or access your DLT CD-ROM (Deakin Learning Toolkit) as provided by the University to all students.
Using Bookmarks to navigate the PDFs
Note: Mac users will find that PDFs will open in their browser window rather than Adobe Reader. This means that you will not be able to see the bookmarks. To overcome this problem, download the file (right click on the file name and select download) to your desktop and open it in Adobe Reader. You will then be able to navigate via the bookmarks.
The left hand side of the Reader window contains the navigation pane that displays various tabs. Click on the Bookmarks tab.

These bookmarks act like a table of contents, where each bookmark represents a chapter or section. Click on the bookmark to take you to that section in the file.
Click on the plus sign to expand the bookmarks or on the minus sign to collapse the bookmarks.

Selecting text
Select the text tool.

Click at the start of the text you wish to select and then drag the mouse to the end of the text.
Right-click (Windows) or Control click (Mac OS), and choose 'Copy to Clipboard'.
Open up Word and paste this text into your file by going to Edit>Paste.
Select an image
Select the Snapshot tool (see above) and drag the mouse to create a selection marquee around text, images, or a combination of both.
This selection is automatically copied and simply needs to be pasted into another document by going to Edit>Paste.
To increase or decrease page magnification:
Click the Zoom In button or the Zoom Out button in the toolbar, or select a magnification percentage from the toolbar menu.

To print a PDF document:
Click the Print button or choose File > Print.
