| Role and profile | Julie is a lecturer in the Associate Degree of Arts, Business and Sciences. Prior to commencing her PhD in 2009 Julie worked in higher education management for more than 15 years, most recently as the former Head of Governance at Deakin University. In this capacity she both wrote about and presented on university governance, and visited institutions within Australia and in the United Kingdom to study university governance arrangements, principally relating to the role of university councils or governing bodies. | |

| Research interests | Higher education policy; higher education systems; quality assurance in higher education; academic governance; orgainsational change. | |
| Current research projects | Julie completed her PhD on 'The role of the academic board in the contemporary Australian university' in late 2012. The research examined the role and function of academic boards, including their place in and the way they are affected by power and authority relationships within the university. Her thesis also explored changes within higher education in the past 30 years and their impact on university governance. Julie is currently publishing out of her PhD research and is also involved in other research projects related to her teaching. | |
