A presentation luncheon for a visiting student cohort from Aceh, Indonesia, was held at 'Treetops' at the Melbourne Museum on Thursday 18 February 2010. The ten students from Aceh arrived at Deakin in July 2009 and successfully completed the Deakin Master of TESOL as part of a collaborative project between the Faculty of Arts and Education and the Aceh provincial government. This group was the first of a number of student cohorts to come to Deakin to study the MTESOL under the agreement with the Aceh government, with the next group arriving at the end of February 2010.
Present at the ceremony was the Consul-General of Indonesia Mr. Budiarman Bahar, who complimented the graduates on their achievement. The Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Education Professor Jennifer Radbourne addressed all students, their guests and academic staff members and later presented each participant with a certificate of completion, as they would be departing immediately to return home, and are not available to attend their official graduation at Deakin to be held in April.
