Aceh delegation

The School of Education within the Faculty of Arts and Education has been actively linked with the Regional Centre for Education in Science and Mathematics (RECSAM) in Penang, Malaysia for close to 20 years.

In 2009, the Director of RECSAM, Dr Azian Abdullah, and Deakin’s Dr Ian Robottom have set up a program for a group of ten young graduates from Aceh Province in Indonesia to come to Deakin to complete a Master of TESOL.  These students, who are funded by the Aceh Provincial Government, all possess an approved four-year University qualification and are seeking further academic qualifications in Education.

Since the launch in 2009 a number of successive Aceh cohorts of students have come to Deakin for postgraduate study.
