Deakin University holds a Public and Products Liability Insurance policy, the parameters of which are outlined in a Certificate of Currency. Potential host organisations may enquire about insurance coverage during the internship negotiation process.
For more information, or a copy of the document, please contact the Experiential Learning Officer.
For off-shore placements, students are advised to monitor safety warnings of the country or countries of destination. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) warnings will be adhered to by the University, and travel to countries or areas with high risk travel warnings attached to them will not be endorsed.
Students are required to provide proof of comprehensive travel insurance to the Experiential Learning Officer prior to departure. Final approval to undertake the internship will not be granted unless this is provided. Travel insurance is provided at no cost by the University by completing an online registration.
Students must arrange all relevant visas for the country or countries of destination.
Students are also encouraged to investigate any necessary vaccinations they require prior to departure.
Students are required to provide next of kin details prior to departure, as well as medical information that may affect your capacity to undertake the internship.
In addition, students are required to provide the Experiential Learning Officer with a full flight itinerary and an in-country contact phone number in case of emergency.
