The Refugee Council of Australia (RCOA) is the national umbrella body for refugees and the organisations and individuals who support them. It has more than 150 organisational and 500 individual members. The member page is your resource to potential internships.

Federal Ethnic Communities Council of Australia http://www.fecca.org.au/
FECCA is the national peak body representing Australians from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.  They provide advocacy, develop policy and promote issues on behalf of our constituency to government and the broader community. FECCA supports multiculturalism, community harmony, social justice and the rejection of all forms of discrimination and racism. This site will guide you to numerous organisations for potential placements.

Victorian Multicultural Commission

(VMC) is an independent statutory authority that was originally established in 1983 under the name of the Victorian Ethnic Affairs Commission. Since then, the Commission has provided independent advice to the Victorian Government to inform the development of legislative and policy frameworks as well as the delivery of services to our culturally, linguistically and religiously diverse society. The VMC community directory will steer you towards potential internship organisations.

Adult Multicultural Education Services (AMES) http://www.ames.net.au/
AMES is the largest provider of English language and Settlement services in Victoria, in addition to being a major supplier of specialist employment and training services in Melbourne. AMES successfully educates and services over 40,000 people every year providing an extensive range of adult education, training and employment programs to a diverse client community.

African Refugee Development Centre http://www.ardc-israel.org/en/
The African Refugee Development Center (ARDC) is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 by refugees and Israeli citizens to assist, support and empower refugees and asylum seekers in Israel. The ARDC advocates for the rights of refugees and asylum seekers and for a humane and fair Israeli asylum policy. It divides its work between individual counseling, humanitarian aid, education, community development, awareness raising and policy initiatives.

Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) http://www.asrc.org.au/
The ASRC is Australia's leading asylum seeker organisation. Since opening their doors in 2001 they have become the largest provider of aid, advocacy, and health services for asylum seekers in Australia. Internship details are listed on the website.

Ethnic Council Shepparton http://www.ethniccouncilshepparton.com.au/
The Ethnic Council of Shepparton and District is a not for profit community organisation which relies on grants from government and industry to provide settlement, refugee brokerage, volunteer support and information and advocacy services.

Mekong Migration Network (MMN) http://www.mekongmigration.org/
MMN is a sub-regional, consultative, and coordinative network of advocates working for the promotion of the welfare, well-being, dignity and human rights of migrants in the Greater Mekong Subregion. The network takes part in joint research, advocacy, capacity building and information monitoring regarding migration in Mekong.

Minority Rights Group International http://www.minorityrights.org/
Minority Rights Group International campaigns worldwide with around 130 partners in over 60 countries to ensure that disadvantaged minorities and indigenous peoples, often the poorest of the poor, can make their voices heard. Through training and education, legal cases, publications and the media, we support minority and indigenous people as they strive to maintain their rights.

The Refugee Council is the leading charity in the UK working with asylum seekers and refugees. They give direct help and support, and also work with asylum seekers and refugees to ensure their needs and concerns are addressed.

Scalabrini Refugee Centre http://www.scalabrini.org.za/
Scalabrini Centre is committed to alleviating poverty and promoting development in the Western Cape while fostering integration between migrants, refugees and South Africans. In providing assistance, they advocate respect for human rights and use a holistic approach that considers all basic needs.

U.S Committee for Refugees and Immigrants http://www.refugees.org/
Since 1911, the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI) has been serving uprooted people, regardless of their nationality, race, ideology, or social group. They provide tools and opportunities for self-sufficiency to refugees and immigrants nationwide, fight refugee warehousing around the world, and protect the rights of migrating children.

Location: Washington, D.C.
Costs: Yes- A small stipend is provided and local travel expenses to and from the office will also be reimbursed. All other costs covered by the intern.
