Risk Management

Students are advised to monitor safety warnings of the country or countries of destination. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) warnings will be adhered to by the University, and travel to countries or areas with high risk travel warnings attached to them will not be endorsed.

Students are required to provide proof of comprehensive travel insurance to the Experiential Learning Officer prior to departure. Final approval to undertake the Internship will not be granted unless this is provided. Travel insurance is provided at no cost by the University by completing an online registration.

Students must arrange all relevant visas for the country or countries of destination.

Students are also encouraged to investigate any necessary vaccinations they require prior to departure.

Students are required to complete an Emergency Contact Form prior to departure. This contains relevant medical information, as well as contact details of a designated person while the student is overseas.

In addition, students are required to provide the Experiential Learning Officer with a full flight itinerary and an in-country contact phone number in case of emergency.

Finally, students are required to complete an indemnity form which outlines the relationship and level of responsibility of the University to the student while they are overseas.

Both documents are to be returned to the Experiential Learning Officer.
