Deakin Arts and Education students enjoy the opportunities of international experience programs
The Faculty has strengthened promotion of the international experiences available to Arts and Education students this year. It is envisaged that over 330 international study experiences will occur in 2010. This includes exchange/study abroad, internships, in-country language programs, GEP and study tours.
November will be a busy month with five Faculty International Art Study Tours and two Education Global Experience Programs occurring.
November Study Tours to Japan
The Animation Study tour will be starting in Tokyo and travelling down to the Kansai region.
The Photography Study Tour will encompass some of the capital’s major galleries and institutions, art collections, boutique galleries and temporary art spaces. Galleries and museums are spread out all over the city and hidden in the unlikeliest of places, such as a gallery housed in an ancient bathhouse or a 1930’s block of flats, home to a range of smaller commercial and artist run spaces.
November Study Tours to India
Participants of the Bollywood Film Study Tour will undertake workshops, seminars and lectures at Whistling Woods International (India’s most prestigious private film and television education institution, owned by Subash Ghai, Bollywood’s most successful film maker).
Writing students on the Space and Place Study Tour will work with the Film Study Tour and be involved in writing documentaries for NGOs.
Students on the Darpana Dance Study Tour will also attend Whistling Woods International and undertake dance classes at the Darpana Academy for Performing Arts.
November Global Experience Programs – India and Thailand
As part of the School of Education’s Global Experience Program, Education students to India and Thailand will have teaching placements at Delhi Public School R.K. Puram, and The Prince Royal’s College in Chiang Mai, Thailand – both the most prestigious schools in their region.
