| Role and profile |
Liz is a multi-award winning filmmaker whose ground-breaking short films have screened widely on the national and international film festival circuit. Her work is held in universities, galleries and screen collections in Australia, the US, Canada and Germany and has attracted numerous international distribution and broadcast sales. Liz’s extensive technical experience ranges from camera operation and lighting, to broadcast studio operation. Liz honed her technical skills working as a Videographer for Steven Speilberg’s Shoah Foundation, documenting Australian Holocaust survivors’ testimonies; and as a camera crew member on a variety of local and international film and television productions. Her ongoing work in the area of screen culture has seen her speaking at events hosted by organizations such as the Australian Film Commission, Melbourne International Film Festival, San Francisco Outfest, Melbourne Queer Film Festival, St Kilda Film Festival, Popcorn Taxi and Open Channel. Liz has served on the film selection panel for MQFF and as a judge for the Diogesis Student Film Awards and the ATOM (Australian Teachers of Media) Awards. Prior to accepting her current position at Deakin University, Liz worked as a freelance production manager on film and video narrative, experimental and digital media projects. Liz teaches first and second year production units in the Bachelor of Film & Digital Media and is the executive producer of the Deakin Broadcast Crew. |
