Role and profile The School Executive Officer is the most senior non-academic administrator in the School and is accountable for the effective management of all administrative support staff and administrative functions of the School.
The role provides leadership, guidance and strategic support to the Head of School and School Executive on the management of the School’s activities, and initiates, interprets and provides expert advice with regard to University policy and procedures relating to the business operations of the School.
The Executive Officer is a member of the School Executive, and is responsible for overseeing the financial, human resource, academic governance, committee management and general administration of the School.

Intercultural communication
Current research projects Helen's minor thesis was on the topic of "Developing Intercultural Competence in University Staff: Augmenting Internationalisation". This project involved interviews with general staff across Deakin.

Its focus was to ascertain what is provided by the University as well as what is required to develop intercultural competence in University general staff.

Helen is the editorial co-ordinator of the School's publication Enlighten which can be viewed at

Helen has also organised a series of Intercultural Encounters seminars in 2013 as part of the Faculty's Access and Equity plan.
