Role and profile Ken has a particular interest in the international relations of the Asia-Pacific region, and has lived and undertaken research in a number of states in the region.

His professional affiliations include the Australian Institute of International Affairs, the American Political Science Association, the International Institute for Strategic Studies, and the International Studies Association.
Teaching responsibilities International Relations of the Asia-Pacific, Security in the Asia-Pacific Region, Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferation and Control, The Rise of China, and American Foreign Policy
Research interests Ken's primary research interests are in the area of the political economy of security. This includes both traditional and non-traditional security, encompassing issues such as technology policy, arms transfers, defence industrialization, and arms control. His secondary research interests are in the area of security resilience.
Current research projects Currently undertaking a study of Sino-American relations and economic security in the Asia-Pacific region.

Currently serves as a member of the International Advisory Board of the Center for Peace and Development Studies, India. Past member of the Board of Directors of Canadian Consortium on Asia Pacific Security.
