Ken has a particular interest in the international relations of the Asia-Pacific region, and has lived and undertaken research in a number of states in the region. His professional affiliations include the Australian Institute of International Affairs, the American Political Science Association, the International Institute for Strategic Studies, and the International Studies Association. |

| Research interests | Ken's primary research interests are in the area of the political economy of security. This includes both traditional and non-traditional security, encompassing issues such as technology policy, arms transfers, defence industrialization, and arms control. His secondary research interests are in the area of security resilience. | |
