| Research interests |
Her research interests include code-switching among Chinese-Australian bilingual children; gender and language in China, in particular the role and social status of women in the early imperial age of China (the Qin, Han and Tang Dynasties) illustrated through Chinese characters; teaching Chinese or English as a second or foreign language; and translation between Chinese and English. Her publications include the articles on the tonal aspects of code switching, the place of grammatical structures in switching as well as teaching methodologies in reading education. She is currently writing on switching among Chinese-Australian bilingual children and analysing the data about women, words and woes.
