| Role and profile |
Rob has been involved in the Australian community sector since the 1980s, in various roles as youth services coordinator, researcher, teacher, consultant. Rob quickly discovered that ‘it takes a village to raise a child’, and has since sought to “do” community both in theory and in practice. He has worked for local government, non-government organisations, TAFE and universities. Amongst his four post graduate qualifications is a PhD completed in 2007- specifically, a case study of a community development project. Rob has retained an involvement in teaching, research and practice. Since August 2008 he has been a lecturer in Deakin’s Master of International and Community Development. He is also a director of the Borderlands Cooperative, and committee member of New Community Quarterly journal. His main research interests are in understanding and responding to the predicaments facing us – ecological, social, economic and spiritual. His research interests include Community Building projects in Victoria; other worldviews of community and development, evaluation and reporting of practice. His teaching responsibilities in the MICD include CD Theory and Practice A; Monitoring and Evaluation; and Submission and Tender Writing. |
