The BCom is one of the most flexible and broadly-based business programs on offer. The Faculty of Business and Law offers BCom students numerous major sequences to choose from. Students can also combine major sequences or include a major from another faculty. This provides greater flexibility for students leading to a very broad range of professional business careers depending on the student's choice of majors.
The specialist majors available within the BCom lead to careers in virtually every area of business and government in Australia and internationally. Possible career paths include money market operations, professional accounting, financial journalism, sport promotion, social and economic policy development, international trade, human resources, and information systems.
With the appropriate selection of units, graduates can satisfy the educational requirements for membership or associateship of a number of professional associations. These include the Australian Computer Society, Australian Institute of Management, CPA Australia, Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, Australasian Institute of Banking and Finance, Australian Economic Institute, Financial Planning Association, Australian Human Resources Institute, Australian Marketing Institute, Marketing Research Society of Australia and the Australian Institute of Credit Management.

A major sequence is a group of units, usually from the same discipline, studied together to achieve a qualification in that discipline. The following are some of the major sequences available to BCom students in the Faculty of Business and Law. There are some additional major sequences available to students who started their BCom before 2005. The online handbook has more information about these.
