Business Breakfast 2008

The 2008 Business Breakfast with Business and Law was held the Geelong Waterfront Campus on Wednesday 15 October.

The event was opened by Ms Janet Dore, CEO, Transport Accident Commission (TAC). Ms Dore advised that 150 of her colleagues have been working in a temporary office in Moorabool Street, Geelong since October 2007. She advised that the organisation is looking forward to full-scale relocation to its new headquarters in Brougham St Geelong in January 2009. Ms Dore further advised that the location of the TAC will have significant flow-on benefits for the Geelong community.

Guests from a range of industries and service providers in the Geelong region, as well as Deakin graduates, students and staff heard presentations from:

• Professor Barry Cooper - Accounting services in rural and regional Australia.
• Ms Julie Clarke - Trade Practices update
• Associate Professor Dianne Waddell - The competitive advantage of working with a Family Business
• Dr Bernard Rolfe - University Model T Challenge

The purpose of the annual Business Breakfast is to enhance the relationship between Deakin University (in particular the Faculty of Business and Law) and the local business and professional communities it serves and is part of Deakin Week.
