International Centre and Business Building opening

The Faculty of Business and Law has relocated to a new, purpose built, environmentally sensitive building across the Creek from the main Melbourne Campus at Burwood. The precinct is the International Centre and Business Building and is referred to as Building lb on campus maps. It will be the focus of business and international activities a Deakin.

The International Centre and Business Building was officially opened by Professor David de Krester, AC, Governor of Victorian 21 February 2008 and attended by an array of dignitaries, business representatives and senior Deakin University staff.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sally Walker hosted guests including Mrs Jan de Krester, Mr Bob Stensholt, Member for Burwood, Ms Anita Nayar, Consul-General of India, His Excellency, Hamed Mohamed Al-Hajri, Consul-General of Oman, Mr Yichuan Zhang, Consul for Education, People's Republic of China and Dr Rod Jones, CEO, Navitas Limited spoke on the relevance of the partnerships at Deakin University.

The International Centre and Business Building is a new cultural environment catering to the needs of a broad student population. It boasts community spaces with soaring ceilings, curved lines and light-filled atriums. The new building houses teaching and learning spaces, academic and administrative offices, a cafe and multi-denominational worship facilities.
