Professional Recognition

Most Business and Law courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate level have been accredited with professional bodies external to the University. Please check with the professional associations if you have any further queries.

Accountingstudents

Graduates applying for admission to the CPA program of CPA Australia and the CA program of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAA), must complete the following units within the Bachelor of Commerce degree:

CPA Program
BCom Core units, MAA202, MAA 203, MAA260, MAA301, MAF203, MLC203
Recommended: MAA303, MLC301
ICAA Program
BCom Core units, MAA202, MAA 203, MAA260, MAA301, MAA303, MAF203, MLC203, MLC301
National Institute of Accountants
Graduates with an Accounting major will satisfy the educational requirements for Associate membership.
Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (based in the UK)
BCom Core units, MAA202, MAA203, MAA260, MAA301, MAA303, MAF202, MAF203, MLC203, MLC301

Financial Planning

Graduates who complete this major are eligible to join the Financial Planning Association and do further study for the CFP Program. Graduates who complete this major are RG146 – Tier 1 compliant. For more information on this visit the School of Accounting Economics and Finance site.

Human Resource Management

Affiliate membership of the Australian Human Resource Institute (AHRI) is available to all students. Students who have completed a Human Resource Management major can apply for recognition as a professional member of AHRI.

Information Systems

The Australian Computer Society accredits courses at various levels of membership. You are advised to check the website for further details and information regarding membership.

Professional Level qualifications
Bachelor of Commerce - major in Business Information Systems
Bachelor of Commerce – majors in Management Information Systems (pre 2006 major), eCommerce (pre 2006 major)
Bachelor of Business Information Systems
Bachelor of Business Information Technology
Students completing a professional level qualification are eligible to become Provisional Members immediately and full Professional Members after relevant information technology experience of 4 years.

Associate Level qualifications
Bachelor of Commerce - majors in Accounting Information Systems, eBusiness or Interactive Marketing
Students completing an associate level qualification are eligible to become Provisional Associate members immediately and full Associate Members after relevant information technology experience of 2 years.

Interactive Marketing

Professional recognition by the Australian Market and Social Research Society (AMSRS) is available on completion of the Interactive Marketing major.

Management

Students may apply for Student Membership of the Australian Institute of Management (AIM). Upon graduation, they can apply to upgrade their membership of AIM to Affiliate Membership.

Marketing

Professional recognition by the Australian Marketing Institute and the Australian Market and Social Research Society (AMSRS) is available on completion of Marketing Honours.

Sport Management

Students interested in seeking accreditation with the Sport Management Association of Australia and New Zealand (SMAANZ) need to contact SMAANZ directly.
