Australian Business WeekIf you are a Year 12 student in Victoria and you are keen to develop your business and communication skills-not to mention have a lot of fun during the most important year of your schooling-then Australian Business Week (ABW) is the program for you.
You could be one of the 60 lucky students selected to form 6 teams and, with the support of teacher mentor and a mentor from business, assume the managerial positions of an established multi-million dollar company! Using a computer simulation you will to take your organisation through the equivalent of a two-year business cycle. Along the way you will experience fierce competition, impossible deadlines, various marketing opportunities and tough business decision making. The program will also require your team to participate in a mock trial, develop and market a new product, create a trade display, produce a video advertisement, write a company report and make an oral presentation to a panel of judges. Yes, all of that in only 5 days!
The big emphasis on team work means you will participate in team building activities designed to increase your team skills. You will also enjoy social and physical activities considered a vital and 'fun' part of the week (hope you like getting out of bed early ... ON YOUR HOLIDAYS!).
ABW will give you the opportunity to listen to and meet key Australian business people who will inspire you to follow your dreams of success in the competitive world of business. Past keynote speakers have included Steve Outrrim, Founder, Sausage Software, Jim Penman, Proprietor, Jim's Mowing, the late Robert Shannon, Managing Director, Shannon Group and Rob Hunt, Managing Director, Bendigo Bank Ltd.
Hosted and sponsored by the Faculty of Business and Law, Deakin University, ABW is held at Deakin Management Centre, a five star residential conference facility which is regularly used by senior management teams from some of the nation's major companies and organisations.
