The School of Accounting, Economics and Finance hosted its annual Report (770kb) to the Profession and Student Awards for Melbourne Wednesday 7 May 2008 at the RACV City Club Melbourne and Geelong Monday 12 May 2008 Waterfront campus.
The events were attended by representatives from CPA Australia, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia, National Institute of Accountants, Financial Planning Association, Productivity Commission, Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance, KPMG, Deloitte, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Powercor, Gordon Institute of TAFE and many others. Deakin VIP guests Professor Barry Cooper (interim Dean, Faculty of Business and Law), Dr Irene Irvine (Pro Vice Chancellor) and Professor Pasquale Sgro (Associate Dean Research) also attended to provide support to the School and its activities.
The Report to the Profession focused on the School's performance in the areas of teaching and learning, corporate and community liaison, and research. The School's top Burwood and Geelong students were acknowledged at the Awards Presentation where they were presented with prizes sponsored by employer organisations and professional bodies. The School's award winning Warrnambool students were presented with their prizes at Faculty of Business and Law Warrnambool graduation ceremony. Congratulations to all award recipients.
The guest speaker for Melbourne was Mr Rob Hogarth, Partner, KPMG and in Geelong Mr Hayden Torney, Muirfield Financial Services Both events were a great success and provided an opportunity for our sponsors, employer organisations and professional bodies to meet our high achieving students.
