The third annual Deakin Think Tank Challenge was held on Wednesday 8 October 2008 at the Burwood Campus. The highly successful event was attended by participating students and their family members, university staff, prospective employers and representatives of professional bodies.
Congratulations are extended to all participants and in particular to the 2008 Deakin Think Tank Challenge winners.
The Deakin Think Tank Challenge is a joint initiative between the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance, Faculty of Business and Law and the Deakin Commerce Society. Generously sponsored by the Institute of Internal Auditors, KPMG and Protiviti, six teams competed for prizes worth over $4,000.
The challenge was based on a real life world business case study and required students to work in teams under time constraints to develop a creative and innovative solution and present it to a panel of judges. The case study focused on risk management, managing skills shortage and emerging issues in the national and global environments. Representatives from the Institute of Internal Auditors Australia, KPMG, Protiviti and Prime Time Financial Counsellors were among the panel of judges who provided positive feedback regarding the presentations and were particularly pleased with the overall professionalism of the event. That positive view was shared by the participants and audience who also felt that the competition was interesting and instructive.
Look out for the Deakin Think Tank Challenge on the 2009 calendar. With all the interest in this year's event, 2009 is looking to be our best ever yet.
