Deakin Think Tank Challenge

The school hosted the seventh annual Deakin Think Tank Challenge on Wednesday 12 September 2012 at the Melbourne Burwood Campus, a joint initiative with the Deakin Commerce Society. Generously sponsored by the Institute of Internal Auditors Australia, KPMG, and a new sponsor this year, Ernst & Young, four finalist teams competed for prizes worth over $4,000.

The highly successful event was attended by participating students, their family and friends, university staff, prospective employers and representatives of professional bodies. Congratulations are extended to all participants and in particular to the 2012 Deakin Think Tank Challenge winners.

The business scenario topic was "Toyota's Recall Crisis" and required the teams to work under time constraints to develop a creative and innovative analysis and present to a panel of judges. Chief judge, our Pro Vice-Chancellor, Gael McDonald was joined by representatives from the professional bodies as well as academic staff who provided positive feedback regarding the presentations and in particular the overall professionalism of the event. That positive view was shared by the participants and audience who also felt the competition was interesting and instructive.

A sincere thank you to those staff who attended the event in support of our students and helped make it the success it was.
