The AEF International Study Program (ISP) blends traditional study with experiential learning and is currently undergoing some new exciting changes as we liaise with a new partner university in Bangkok (Thailand). The ISP will offer a truncated summer semester of study in November/December 2013 at the Melbourne Burwood Campus, and three weeks of international travel in January/February 2014 visiting the Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, key financial organisations such as the European Central Bank and the Bank of England along with corporations in Paris, London, Berlin, Frankfurt, the WTO and the United Nations in Geneva.
The new opportunity that is unfolding is the reciprocal academic program that the University of Chulalongkorn is providing. Participation in this program allows all Australian resident students to access OS Help loans of up to $6051 towards trip expenses (conditions apply - students need to have completed a minimum of eight units prior to the ISP and have at least two units to complete in your degree studies in the returning trimester, ie T1, 2014).
The ISP is offered to all students in the Faculty of Business & Law. The application form [92KB WRD] and powerpoint presentation [959KB PDF] provide information about the ISP. The anticipated cost of the ISP is approximately $6500, which includes all travel, accommodation expenses, all breakfasts, some combined dinners, city tours of most places visited. Students will need to provide additional spending money for other meals and incidentals.
Students need to do a minimum of one unit of study, but up to two from the following units:
Undergraduate
MFT306 International Finance and Investment and/or
MET303 International Trade
Postgraduate
MFT760 International Finance
To secure your place you need to fill in the application form [92KB WRD] and submit the application form with a deposit of $1000 by 31 July directly to Reho Travel. Please note that refund conditions apply (see Application form) and that the deposit is non-refundable. A copy of the application form and the Deakin Student Agreement form must be submitted or emailed to Linda De Sousa (lb4.109). Further information can be obtained by emailing Di Thomson or Rhonda Ryan.
The Faculty of Business and Law is offering $500 grants to all students participating in the ISP.
The study program is offered intensively from 11November - 6 December 2013. The assessment will consist of an exam 50% (Dec 2013); intelligence report - 15% for report, 5% for presentation of report (Dec 2013); participation in visits 10%; and final report 20% (Feb 2014).
