Chile Study Tour - Units offered

2012 tour group

The program is offered during Trimester 3 to undergraduate students from any Bachelor's degree. All teaching takes place in Chile however students must be available to attend a compulsory orientation day in Melbourne prior to departure.

Students cannot enrol themselves in the study program units via StudentConnect. Successful applicants will be notified and manually enrolled by staff.

MIS398 Project Management

Project management is rapidly becoming a standard way of doing business, whether it be constructing buildings, providing emergency aid services or launching a new product. Organisations have recognised that the powerful set of tools that this result-oriented management style offers have the ability to improve their ability to plan, implement and manage activities, to successfully compete in the global markets.

Assessment: Group assessment, individual reflection and individual assessment

Relevant for:

  • Business students as a unit in their major or as an elective.
  • Law students as a general elective
  • All other students as a general elective

MIS291 Community Based Volunteering

The purpose of this community based program is to allow students an opportunity to gain a professional work placement with an approved host organisation. Students will learn in and with the community, with the intention of then critically reflecting on their placement and employability competencies through a continuous assessment process. Selected students will be placed in 2 week intensive internships with a selected community organisation in Costa Rica.

Assessment: Individual portfolio which includes an in-depth critical reflection.

  • All other students as a general elective
