What is Financial Planning?

Financial Planning is the process of developing a personal financial strategy to achieve desired financial objectives during the course of one's life. The study of Financial Planning at Deakin University explores the body of knowledge required to develop the skills necessary to develop a personal financial plan and to offer professional advice to individuals in the broad area of financial planning. The Financial Planning discipline examines both the underpinning theoretical framework of financial planning, as well as the practical application of these theories and strategies. The body of knowledge and skills required of a financial planner include: retirement planning; taxation planning; investment planning and estate planning.

Career opportunities

Financial Planning graduates work in financial planning firms, accounting firms and financial institutions.
