Christine Jubb (1990) Christine Jubb

Christine is Professor of Accounting at the Deakin Business School. She might best be described as a serial student as she has a Bachelor of Business, a Graduate Diploma of Education, a Graduate Diploma in Statistics, a MBA and a PhD.

‘I teach Financial Reporting and Analysis to postgraduate students, mostly MBAs. It’s a core subject for the MBA. I am also the Associate Head of School (Research). I love what I am doing now. I really enjoy teaching post grads and I love research. I am enjoying the challenge of my senior position at Deakin.

Becoming a Professor has been a career highlight. You get treated differently when you have a ‘Prof’ in front of your name. As soon as I got it, the Australian Stock exchange asked me to do some research.

After trying my hand at a several disciplines, in 1984 I decided to study for my MBA, It has proved immensely useful. I use the report writing and strategic skills I learned every day. I chose the Deakin MBA because I could study off-campus, there was very little available in that mode in the 1980s.

As well as bringing up my two children, I worked the whole time I studied. It became a way of life for me. I would have been amongst the first to purchase a personal computer in Australia and when they became portable I would work where ever I could, the kids swimming lessons, parks, you name it.'
