Corporate Social Responsibility...just too much hot air?

Mr Harold Mitchell AO, Chairman, Mitchell and Partners, delivered the 2007 Oration on Wednesday 2 May at Toorak campus Melbourne.

CSR has begun to grab the headlines across the Australian media, fuelled by escalating public expectations of what companies should be contributing to alleviating social disadvantage, and addressing climate change issues. Harold Mitchell will be applying his unique perspective on corporate citizenship, exploring if and whether it can reach beyond the 'moral imperative' and the 'feel-good' sound-byte, and really impact the bottom line, and effect real change in society. Drawing on his own extensive experience, he will share his thoughts on how corporate Australia is shaping up to the challenges of doing profitable and responsible business in the diverse markets of the Asia Pacific region, and we look forward to some thought-provoking predictions on what the CSR landscape will look like at the end of the decade.
