Marysville Trip

12 April 2008

Amid a strenuous assignment submission period and a hectic work schedule 35 Deakin students joined the DBS Society for the 1st of trip of semester one 2008 to scenic Marysville. The weather was just perfect - not too sunny with just a gentle shiver - a perfect autumn day.

After the slightly delayed start and the short shopping spree for food and beverages at a local supermarket in Healesville, the group took the winding road up to Marysville. Autumn had definitely worked its charm and the trees showed shades of brown, red, yellow, orange and light green. The next stop was Steavenson’s Falls at Marysville, one of the highest waterfalls in Victoria (84 metres). Everyone was extremely exhausted after the 40 minute trek to the top of the waterfall, but the view from the top was spectacular.

By 2pm everyone was hungry and eagerly awaiting the BBQ. The delicious round of food was followed by a quick game of soccer. The only way to differentiate between the two teams was to have one team play without shirts - a sign of ingenuity! It was an exciting and tiring session of soccer.

The drive back was rather silent with many taking a short nap after the long and fun day. On the whole it was a perfectly planned trip where new and old members of DBSS started 2008 with a spot of fun.
