Australia's unique position in the international business arena as a nexus between developed countries and emerging markets also makes it the natural destination to study international business in an increasingly globalising world. With this in mind, Deakin's Master of International Business program aims at helping develop its students to be effective in an internationally integrated business environment. The program's structure reflects the basic global reality as its premise that the international business environment is now fundamental to the operation of all businesses. For example, financial markets are more substantially integrated on a global basis; innovative corporations increasingly seek competitive advantages by operating beyond local markets; and government policy relevant to business increasingly takes into account international frameworks, standards and expectations; and, universally, there is a strong emphasis on international trade.
Consequently, Deakin University's Master of International Business and supporting Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma courses, help students develop a specific capability to operate in an international context, which includes developing a sound understanding of what it means for a business to be truly international in its perspective.
Apart from developing technical knowledge and skills, students in our program will also gain an appreciation of the international business environment by acquiring an international political and cultural awareness. Our students graduate with broader international perspectives, qualifying them to take up a wider range of opportunities in a globalised business world. Our program in international business is relevant across the spectrum of business and government, especially for those directly engaged in international markets or seeking to maximise their opportunities in the new environment of business, no matter where they are located.
