Trevor White (2010)

Master of Business Administration 2010Trevor White

I am currently...
Principal Consultant in my start up business Creative Branch Consulting and Managing Director of my trading company Food Industry Link Pty Ltd. I am also a passionate food service professional!

My employment involves…
Helping businesses with various food interests to take a wider view of where their food service is at now and where they want it to go in the future. I help businesses to achieve better results by; defining and renovating their products and services to better fit changing customer needs, rationalising and controlling food costs, developing key internal processes and ensuring these are implemented effectively by using the best people and effective project management.

The things I enjoy most about my job are…
Helping people improve their products and services and particularly making a difference to those who need it most, for example in aged care facilities. I love the variety and diversity of people I meet and not having to be stuck in a rigid company structure. I am also greatly enjoying building a brand with integrity and values that I can aspire to.

In my profession it is important to ...
Have a real passion for what you do.

I chose Deakin because...
I wanted to learn and grow. I wanted to find my niche in this world and complete my unfinished educational journey having left school at 16 years of age. I had a plan that required much more than a culinary education and fantastic award winning experiences.

The highlights of my time at Deakin were…
Without doubt the MBA residential school and undertaking the inaugural Australian Finance Tour. The flexibility of course delivery, the materials and facilities, the great lecturers and inspirational speakers were also first class.
I learned so much more at Deakin than I could ever have imagined and far beyond just building management skills.

In the future I would like to...
Continue to build my two brands into something special. I also want to assist the Australian food service industry to find new and innovating ways to achieve economic efficiencies whilst improving on products and services. As part of this I want to ensure that people are included in these improvements and show that the industry is not all about money but that it really cares about its customers too.

Professionally, my proudest achievement is...
Too hard to narrow down. I have experienced many career highlights over the last 25 years and they are all different and part of my life journey. Looking back, even the experiences where I felt hard done by have ultimately turned out for the very best.
