MPI700 Postgraduate Internship

Admission

The content of the unit is primarily the Internship itself.

Students draw heavily on the core competencies that are developed in the core units in their studies as well as the specialist units undertaken as electives.

The key criteria for eligibility to enrol in the internship unit are:

  • Completion of minimum 6 postgraduate units
  • Achievement of good academic records

Admission to the Postgraduate Internship unit requires the following:

  • A secured internship placement with a company of student's choice.
Students need to print a letter of introduction [54KB PDF], which outlines the key elements of the internship program and send it along with their resume and a letter (email) of request to the intended business host for their information and reference.
Students are required to enrol in an alternative unit in case their search for a placement is unsuccessful and if their application would not be approved.
  • Approved application for enrolment
Please note that students cannot directly enrol in the unit. When they have secured the internship position, students need to complete the application form [220KB PDF] and submit it to the Faculty office for assessment.

Please carefully read the details of the Internship program and contact the Postgraduate Centre in building LB if additional information and/or clarification is necessary.

The unit is available only to the students enrolled in the following courses:

The internship cannot be taken in the company of student's normal occupation.

Once a student's application is approved by the Unit Chair, the student will receive an email notifying them of the outcome and advising them of instructions to enrol online. Students for whom this unit is part of a normal load can then proceed to add the unit via StudentConnect.

Applicants should note that the Faculty reserves the right not to approve applications from students that are currently subject to Faculty Academic Progress and Discipline Committee restrictions or deliberations.
