Workshop for Innovation and Entrepreneurship [WOFIE]

Deakin University is searching for charities, foundations and volunteer-based organisations with a burning issue to participate in the 2012 WOFIE (Workshop for Innovation and Entrepreneurship) program, which has as its theme "Developing Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the Not- For-Profit (NFP) sector".

The program which originated in Denmark's Aalborg University, takes place over five consecutive days (5-9 November) at the Burwood Campus and involves interdisciplinary teams of Deakin postgraduate students finding solutions to real organisational challenges, this year coming from the vital NFP sector. Teams receive specific challenges and through a program which includes team work, guest speakers, discipline experts and visiting mentors apply themselves to generate ideas, directions and solutions with a clear focus on innovation and entrepreneurship. The winning teams, as determined by a panel of judges, share a $10,000 prize pool.

There is no fee or costs associated for NFP challenge providers, however Deakin would welcome sponsorship for - and involvement in - the event from private and public sector organisations.

2011 Outstanding Reviewer Award for Professor Jon BillsberryProf Jon Billsberry

Congratulations to Jon Billsbury who has been awarded a 2011 Outstanding Reviewer Award from the Organizational Behavior Division of the Academy of Management. Of the 1236 people who reviewed for the division this year, the Division selected only 119 to receive this honour.

The Academy of Management encourage all of their reviewers to provide constructive and developmental feedback on each submission - regardless of whether the submission is likely to appear on the program. To ensure that they are meeting their objective of providing high quality feedback, they ask submitters to assess the quality of the reviews that they received. The Academy of management also track the number of reviews completed, the timeliness of the reviews, and the amount of feedback provided to authors. While they have many talented reviewers working for the OB Division, Jon was rated as a reviewer who provided exceptionally high quality feedback and performed exceptional service by reviewing a large number of papers
