Not-For-Profit (NFP) organisations and charitable bodies in Australia provide vital social and environmental support services in key areas such as community care, emergency response services, child welfare and protection, homelessness, social inclusion, mental health, addiction support, disability and aged care, animal welfare and environmental and heritage protection.
These organisations represent a unique organisational model in that they are often staffed and supported by volunteers who give their time freely and generously, demonstrating a passionate commitment to their chosen cause and are dependent upon self-generated income and public donations to fund their invaluable activities. Just like conventional business organisations however, NFPs face significant challenges in rapidly evolving environments which demand new thinking and a fresh perspective.
In 2013, Deakin University presents an opportunity for these organisations to collaborate with high-calibre, multi-disciplinary postgraduate student teams in a 5-day intensive solutions-based workshop to gain new ideas and insights and explore innovative directions in relation to their key challenges and opportunities - the WOFIE initiative.
Are you eligible to enrol in MPI700 Postgraduate Internship as part of your studies? If so, you can apply to participate in the WOFIE program and, if accepted, also apply to enrol in MPI700. Successful completion of the WOFIE program and pre- and post-event assessment activities will mean that you can benefit in an industry-based learning event and complete a unit of study towards your qualification.
