India Study Tour

Amazing India . . . . a country to stir the soul, a land of great diversity, a kaleidoscope of colour, history and cuisine. The world's second most populous nation, a powerhouse economy and an emerging world leader. Experience this dynamic country first hand.

The India Study Tour has been running since 2006. The 2007 tour returned in mid-December and students who participated had a great time. Planning is already under way for a 2008 tour.

The 16 day tour departs from Melbourne the evening of 26 November returning 13 December 2008. It is open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as students from other faculties or universities.

The purpose of the tour is to provide students with insights into the business, political and cultural diversity of this dynamic country. During the two weeks we will be based firstly in Mumbai, the business hub of India, and then in Delhi, its modern capital city. Also included is a visit to the mystical city of Agra, home to the magnificent Taj Mahal and Jaipur, the renowned 'pink city'.

We will be hosted by some of Mumbai and Delhi's leading universities. An exciting series of major inter-varsity activities are scheduled in each city: a Law Moot, The Great Sports Debate and three inte-varsity Twenty20 Cricket Challenges. In cricket passionate India these are always a highlight.

Academic rigor is ensured by adjunct teaching sessions presented by academic staff from Deakin University and our host universities. In addition, there will be sessions from representatives of Indian industry and government.

As demand is expected to be high you are invited to secure your place by downloading the Application Form (167Kb word doc) and following the instructions for paying the deposit.
