The India Study Tour has been running since 2006. Students have had a fantastic experience on previous tours and an exciting program is planned for the 2011 tour.
The 18 day tour departs from Melbourne the morning of 12 November returning 28 November 2012. It is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students of all disciplines as well as students from other faculties or universities. Final information about the 2011 tour will be available in April.
The purpose of the tour is to provide students with insights into the business, political, social and cultural diversity of this dynamic country.
The tour transits with a stopover in Singapore then begins in Delhi, the capital of modern India. Next we visit the mystical city of Agra, home to the magnificent Taj Mahal and the Agra Fort then on to Jaipur, the renowned 'pink city'. Finally we reach Mumbai, the business hub of India, for an extended program of engagement activities with students from partner universities.
We will be hosted by some of Delhi's and Mumbai's leading universities. An exciting series of major inter-varsity activities are scheduled in each city: The 'Great Debate' and the Reach-Out Program receive great reviews and in cricket passionate India, the three intervarsity Twenty20 Cricket Challenges are always a highlight.
Academic rigor is ensured by an integrated curriculum presented by academic staff from Deakin University and our host universities. In addition, there will be sessions from representatives of Indian industry and government.
