Undergraduate students have the option of enrolling in additional extension options. All extension activities are based in Mumbai or Delhi and take place after the main tour concludes
The unit enables students to gain an appreciation of certain aspects of legal practice and to extend and deepen their theoretical knowledge of the law by working under supervision in a community legal service. Selected students will be placed in ten day intensive internships with the Mumbai High Court and leading law firms in Mumbai.
Assessment: Two major assignments based on the experience of the placement.
This unit aims to provide students with the opportunity to undertake appropriate and relevant learning outside the classroom and prepare students for future graduate employment. Internships can be completed in all majors or discipline areas as well as general business opportunities. Selected students will be placed in ten day intensive internships with the Deakin International India Office in Delhi.
Assessment: Three major assignments based on the experience of the placement
The purpose of this community based internship, is to allow students an opportunity to gain a professional work placement with an approved host organisation. Students will learn in and with the community, with the intention of then critically reflecting on their placement and employability competencies through a continuous assessment process. Selected students will be placed in ten day intensive internships with a selected community organisation in Mumbai.
Assessment: Individual portfolio which includes an in-depth critical reflection.
