Career Opportunities

If you wish to develop a career in an exciting environment of continuous change, learning new skills all the time, then information systems is for you. Because of the constant need to develop, manage and use information strategically, IS professionals will have access to employment in just about every Australian industry, including all levels of government.

For example, as a graduate you could be employed as:

  • an analyst/software developer
  • a business consultant
  • a database administrator
  • an Internet developer
  • a project leader
  • an IS auditor
  • or in research and development

As your skills develop, you could be choosing from positions such as:

  • chief information officer
  • director of information technology
  • chief knowledge officer
  • information technology manager
  • or a position in general management

In addition, graduates that include an appropriate major in their studies may choose to work as IS specialists in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Human Resource Management, Marketing or Management.
