Honours

Future Prospects

One of the most critical challenges in job search today is to distinguish yourself from many other undergraduates - your competitors. Having an Honours degree will give you a competitive advantage in the job market.

Indeed, past students have indicated that an Honours degree provided them with the additional skills that employers were seeking:

Possessing the skills gained through an IS Honours degree provides strong evidence of your capabilities to address this expectation and demand by prospective employers such as CSIRO, BHP, Telstra and the Banking and Finance sectors.

For many students, Honours can also be a pathway to becoming a research academic. Firstly, you may be given an opportunity to work as a tutor. Secondly, the possession of an H1 Honours degree assists you in obtaining a PhD scholarship. Discover yourself - maybe you should become an academic - a few past students have done this! At our School, Honours has become a research incubator to grow our base of PhD students and staff.
