Business Aspects of Information Systems (BASIS) Research Cluster

The business impact of contemporary ICT developments

As ICTs continue to evolve, new opportunities open up for organisations to drive business benefit from the application of these technologies. Contemporary examples include mobile computing, service-oriented architectures, outsourcing, off shoring, the use of social media in organisations, and the increasing importance of cloud computing and green ICT for organisations.

This research theme explores the rich variety of ways in which organisations could derive benefit from such technologies, new organizational forms and models enabled by the technology, the risks involved, implementation approaches, first-mover advantages and best practice approaches.
