Sustainability Research Group

The Sustainability Research Group conducts research which will lead to the improved performance and sustainability of small through to large organisations. Traditionally organisational sustainability and performance has been measured using rationale, economic objectives such as growth and profitability. Increasingly today, however, shareholders and customers are also evaluating organisations on their triple bottom line: social, environmental and economic performance (also referred to as corporate social responsibility or CSR).

Environmental performance is being driven by such pressures as climate change impacts on community purchasing, and regulatory reform associated with water, waste, energy and emissions. Social performance is being driven largely by consumer preferences for organisations who behave ethically with employees, customers and society.
