The next step

If you are a current student nearing the end of your degree, there are many different options and roads you can take from this point on.

Employment

If you're nearing the end of your degree, you will need to start thinking about jobs. A list of various careers can give you a starting point.

Graduate programs

Most organisations' graduate application period open around March. The process can last 5-6 months. Deakin's Jobshop allows students to view employment opportunities as well as graduate opportunities.

Further information can be found on Deakin's Careers information website.

Interview tips

The Jobshop provides an excellent video resource covering all aspects of applying for graduate positions. They offer real examples with feedback and tips from employers and applicants.

Further Study

Honours is a fourth year program which is designed for students to research and learn further in order to enhance their preparation for professional employment. While Honours can be hard work, most students generally find studying Honours both rewarding and enjoyable whilst boosting their chances of securing a good career in the industry by being placed above the "just a degree" group.

It also shows prospective employers that you are willing to continue to innovate and learn through research and apply these principles to their organisation.
