Mooting competitions

Various moots are conducted each year. Participation is optional but encouraged as a means of developing valuable research and advocacy skills. These moots include the following:

Willem C Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Competition

Since its inception, students from the School of Law have participated in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, held annually in Hong Kong and Vienna. This competition allows Deakin students to meet students from around the world, work within the framework of international commercial law and different legal systems, and to enjoy the challenge of a world class mooting competition. With the export of legal services an important area of opportunity for Australian law firms, and with international commercial arbitration an important means of settling international disputes, the Vis Moot is a wonderful experience and a practical introduction to the globalised nature of legal work.
