First indigenous magistrate appointed in Victoria is a Deakin alumni

Rose Falla (nee Coombs) graduated from Deakin University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Laws degree.

On Tuesday 29 January 2013, Ms Falla joined the Magistrates Court of Victoria and is the first indigenous magistrate to be appointed in Victoria.

Since graduating Ms Falla helped to establish Victoria's Koori Courts, a division of the Magistrates Court and more recently was acting deput directorate manage of complex crime at the Office of Public Prosecutions.

We congratulate Ms Falla's on her appointment and wish the very best for her future.
