Partnerships offering practical experience for students

Mirko Bagaric & Leigh Johns sign MoUDeakin Univeristy is proud to announce the partnership between the law school and the Fair Work Building and Construction (FWBC). A memorandum of understanding was signed by the Dean of Law, Mirko Bagaric and Leigh Johns, Chief Executive of FWBC on 17 January 2013.

Law students will now have the opportunity to partipate in our law clinic unit at FWBC. Students will gain an appreciation of legal practice and extend and deepen their theoretical knowledge whilst applying the law under the supervision of FWBC's legal team.

The FWBC law clinic unit will provide law students with:

  • hands on experience in taking instructions
  • client interviewing
  • fact finding
  • dispute resolution
  • negotiation
  • providing advice (under supervision)
  • legal research
  • problem-solving and
  • witnessing the litigation and advocacy process
