Arts and Entertainment Management

Learning environment

Students in the Arts and Entertainment Management program are able to access high quality materials and are given opportunities to read, learn and discuss topical issues in the arts and entertainment sector.

Students have access to unit materials (either from the CD-Rom or download from the website). Weekly online tutorials provide a forum for interaction and discussion with other students and Deakin lecturers.

It is a flexible approach to learning: you can log in and engage with the discussions at any time to suit your schedule and other work commitments.

Students participating in this program are from diverse backgrounds: some are already working in the arts and entertainment sector and bring their experience into the online classroom. Others are keen to enter the industry and use the opportunity provided in this program to make connections and scope the field. Students in the program come from all over the world and from urban and regional/remote areas of Australia.

Assessment for the program for many units is via written essays or case studies. These have a practical focus and encourage students to research real-life examples/case studies from the arts and entertainment sector. Students who are working in the field will find that they are developing practical skills they can apply in the workplace.

The online environment is user-friendly and facilitates discussion and interaction with your lecturers. Intensive Workshop days (optional) are also provided at which you can meet your fellow students face to face, along with guest speakers from the arts industry.
