Unit Chair of MMM367 Operations and Quality Management John McElvaney followed up on a request by international students that they really wanted to visit Australian workplaces in action during their short stay here. Air Radiators Limited in Lara was approached by John because of their excellent relationship with Deakin University.
Air Radiators are the leaders in specialized cooling systems for use in heavy equipment in mining, power generation and heavy rail and road transport.
Our factory tour guide Allan Trevena, whose ties go back to the founding of the company in 1974 was a passionate advocate of the competitive advantages of Air Radiators. Allan demonstrated that using good local craftsmen, first class quality materials, being dependable, being reliable and being flexible to the customers needs, a niche differentiator manufacturer such as Air Radiators can be very successful.
John McElvaney said, "The students were very impressed with the tour of Air Radiators and Allan's enthusiasm gave them confidence that using similar strategies they too could develop successful operations in their homelands and maybe even become agents for Air Radiators products in the Northern Hemisphere".
