Graduate Profile: Marcin Pont

Bachelor of Commerce (Honours)

After completing my Honours year at Deakin University, I joined Consumer Insights, a small Melbourne-based consultancy, where I honed and developed my talents. The agency specialises in Fast-Moving-Consumer-Good (FMCG) product development and promotion. Working for a small firm helped me to learn the ins and outs of the business environment very quickly. The responsibilities handed to me were diverse and demanding, normally requiring me to manage a number of tasks at one time.

With a few years of work experience behind me I thought is was time to embark on a new challenge and to see the world. In 2004 I decided to move to London and consequently joined HI Europe, a subsidiary of Harris Interactive who are the fastest growing market research company in the world. Harris Interactive are known for pioneering internet-based research and have offices in the US, France, Japan and London. Working for a large international company has enabled me to work with a diverse range of renowned clients from across the globe. My responsibilities within the company include: designing effective research strategies, implementing these strategies (sometimes across six different countries), reporting and presenting to clients, and assisting clients with the development of future business plans based upon these research results.

While the Honours year is challenging, I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in a career in the marketing industry. It provides you with a knowledge base that is fundamental for the industry.

The experience has benefited me immensely and the relationships and contacts that I have developed will, no doubt, remain with me throughout my life.
