The Medal and a cheque for $3,000 were presented to Stephanie Moloney by the Chair of the Bowater Trust, Mr Kean Selway, Deakin University Vice-President (Enterprise and Engagement) at an event attended by student prize winners and their families, staff of the School of Management and Marketing, and members of the Bowater Trust.
Stephanie completed a Bachelor of Commerce with majors in Human Resource Management, Management and Marketing. She was awarded the prestigious Alfred Deakin Medal at her graduation ceremony and was included on the Dean’s Merit List for 2013. Stephanie was awarded the Deakin Prime Business Internship Prize for 2013 and is also the recipient of the 2013 School of Management and Marketing prize for outstanding achievement in a management major.
Stephanie was actively involved in various aspects of university life. She was a Peer Tutor, a PASS (Peer Assisted Study Sessions) Leader, a Student Ambassador and an Orientation Host. She also volunteered her time to participate in a Future Leaders Program held at the Warrnambool campus for VCE students. Stephanie believes that her involvement in these programs contributed to a well-rounded degree and assisted her in developing a variety of valuable skills. In addition to her casual work at Deakin, Stephanie also worked at Target Warrnambool and on the family farm.
Reflecting on her time at Deakin University, Stephanie believes her positive experience can be attributed to a supportive learning environment and the opportunity to balance theory and practice. Her practical experience included a marketing internship at Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village and a human resource management internship at the Warrnambool Cheese and Butter Factory. Having grown up in regional Victoria, Stephanie is passionate about working in the agricultural industry. She is currently working at the Warrnambool Cheese and Butter Factory as a Logistics Coordinator for the domestic and New Zealand markets.
Stephanie believes the education provided by the School of Management and Marketing has prepared her well for her future endeavours. The support and dedication of academic staff in conjunction with a well-structured course ensured her time at University was a positive experience. Stephanie is looking forward to being an ambassador for the School of Management and Marketing and is eager to share her experiences with others. She feels privileged to have been awarded this honour.
