Undergraduate courses

The Bachelor of Property and Real Estate is offered for on-campus study at the Melbourne Burwood Campus. It comprises 3 years of full-time study, or part-time equivalent. The course includes core streams in property valuation and property development, with supporting units comprising business law, accounting, economic principles, and marketing. Major sequences are available in management, marketing, sustainability or property and facilities management.

Postgraduate study

Deakin's Graduate Diploma of Property is offered for part-time, off-campus study. This course comprises 8 core units.

The Graduate Diploma of Property has been designed for:

  • Professionals such as architects, surveyors and construction managers looking to broaden their careers in the built environment; and
  • Graduates with degrees in commerce, management or law disciplines who wish to move into property.

Student profiles
Jamie Lampard
The flexibility of Deakin's study opportunities allows Jamie Lampard to work part- time, study full-time, and remain in his home town of Ballarat while he does it all. After being accepted into the course, Jamie was hired by a Ballarat real estate agency that recognised the value of a Deakin Degree.
Jesse Radisich
As a Dean's Scholar, Jesse has a dedicated academic mentor to guide him through his course, an annual scholarship of $5000 for the duration of his course and the opportunity to include a paid industry-based learning placement as part of his degree. "The Deakin course is newer and fresher. It has been created around other existing courses, like business and management, and works alongside them. It's recognised by all of the industry bodies."

Professional accreditation

The Bachelor of Property and Real Estate is accredited by the Australian Property Institute and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Graduates may be eligible for registration as a Certified Practising Valuer.
